Does Max Thieriot’s CBS show change his future?
For starters, consider this crazy cliffhanger from the Season 5 finale! The lives of Max’s Clay – along with Jason, Sonny and Ray – have all been put in danger by a massive explosion. While the series was renewed a few days ago, Paramount+ has yet to comment on the official cast.
Also, there is this: according to TVLineThieriot is executive producer of a new series titled Cal Fire which just received a pilot order at CBS. The story is about a man who takes on the role of firefighter in Northern California in order to shorten his prison sentence, and the story was co-written by Max alongside Tony Phelan and Joan Rater. (It is based, in part, on Thieriot’s experiences growing up in an area often ravaged by forest fires.)
This is extremely exciting news for Max, who will also serve as executive producer on the new project. However, he will not hinder his ability to continue SEAL Team – provided, of course, that his character survives the finale. It’s something to watch for whenever the series returns, but we wouldn’t spend the next few weeks worrying about it. Instead, get excited for this new gig! There’s a lot to celebrate here, especially since it could give Thieriot the chance to do something else even after SEAL Team concludes, anyway.
Chances are we’ll learn more about the future of Cal Fire at some point over the next few months. CBS will shoot the pilot, take a look at it, and then find out after the fact.
